What Are Nova Actionable Insights?

Nova Actionable Insights are automated recommendations generated by Nova after analyzing data in your UpKeep account. Each insight:

  • Identifies a potential opportunity or issue in your account

  • Explains why it matters

  • Provides a pre-written Nova prompt to help you take action immediately

These insights are delivered directly to your email inbox.


How It Works

  1. Nova analyzes your UpKeep data: Behind the scenes, Nova reviews relevant data in your account (such as assets, PMs, schedules, and workflows).

  2. You receive an email from Nova containing

    • Up to three actionable insights

    • A brief explanation of each insight

    • A suggested solution or next step

  3. Launch Nova with a pre-built prompt: Each insight includes a “Try it with Nova” button. When you click it:

    • UpKeep opens

    • Nova automatically slides open

    • A fully written prompt is already waiting in the chat

  4. Click Send and let Nova do the work: No editing required. Simply click Send, and Nova will carry out the task, such as:

    • Creating preventive maintenance templates

    • Fetching relevant assets

    • Generating schedules or workflows


Why This Is Helpful

  • No prompt writing required: Nova generates the insight and the prompt, ensuring it has the right context from the start.

  • Learn by example: These prompts are great examples of what “good” Nova prompts look like, especially when sharing best practices with customers or teammates.

  • Proactive recommendations: Nova surfaces things you may not have thought to ask about, helping you uncover opportunities faster.


Example Use Case

You receive an insight suggesting that a monthly preventive maintenance (PM) template could improve consistency for a specific asset group.

After clicking Try it with Nova, Nova:

  • Identifies the relevant assets

  • Creates the PM template

  • Applies the appropriate schedule

All from a single click.


Who Can Receive Nova Actionable Insights Emails?

Right now, to receive Nova Actionable Insights emails, you must:

  • Be a Full Admin in your UpKeep account

  • Have at least 100 work orders in your account

  • Have at least 3 work orders updated within the last 7 days

If your account doesn’t yet meet these criteria, you won’t receive the email until enough recent data is available.
