The SOP Wizard in UpKeep EHS helps you quickly create, edit, and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). SOPs are essential for safety, compliance, and consistency in your operations

With this tool, you can start from scratch, generate with AI, or upload an existing SOP to pre-fill the wizard. You can also customize, approve, export, and version SOPs β€” all inside UpKeep


Creating an SOP

  1. Go to EHS β†’ SOPs

  2. Click Create SOP

  3. Choose one of two options:

    • Talk or type into AI β†’ Enter your description in the prompt. AI will generate the SOP wizard for you

    • Upload a document β†’ Select a file to upload. AI will parse the file and pre-fill the wizard fields


SOP Wizard Steps

The wizard guides you through 6 steps. Use the Next and Back buttons at the bottom of each screen to move through the flow

  1. General Information

    • Details: SOP Title, Purpose, Responsibilities

  2. Hazards and Controls

    • Details: Hazards (dropdown + free text), Required Controls (PPE, lockout/tagout, signage)

  3. Procedure Steps

    • Add step-by-step instructions

    • Use Add Step to insert a new step

    • Use drag-and-drop to reorder

    • Use Delete Step if needed

  4. Emergency Plan

    • Details: Emergency contacts, First aid guidance, Incident reporting steps

  5. Metadata

    • Details: Author, Creation Date, Revision Number, Compliance Reference

  6. Review & Finish

    • Preview your full SOP

    • Use Edit Section if changes are needed

    • Click Submit for Approval to complete


Managing SOPs

After creating an SOP, you can manage it from the SOP list view
