How to Use the AI Checklist Generator

The AI Checklist Generator helps you quickly create sample checklists tailored to your asset type. This tool is ideal if you're starting from scratch or need inspiration for setting up routine inspections, maintenance, or safety procedures.


How to Access the AI Checklist Generator

  1. Navigate to the Checklists section from the left-hand menu

  2. Click the blue Add Checklist button in the upper right corner

  3. Scroll down and open the AI Checklist Generator section


How to Generate a Checklist

  1. Enter an Asset Type
    Type in the asset you're creating a checklist for (e.g., “HVAC Unit,” “Forklift,” “Air Compressor”).
    Note: This field is required

  2. Set the Number of Tasks
    Choose how many tasks you want the checklist to include. The default is 10, but you can adjust this number

  3. Select a Checklist Frequency
    Choose how often this checklist will be used—options may include Daily, Weekly, Monthly, etc.

  4. Choose a Checklist Type
    This could be Maintenance, Safety, Inspection, or another relevant category.

  5. Click the blue Generate Example button

UpKeep will automatically generate a sample checklist based on your inputs. You can edit any of the tasks before saving.


What Happens Next?

  • Review and edit the checklist as needed

  • Click Save to add it to your checklist library

  • You can now assign it to Work Orders or Preventive Maintenance Triggers
