Launching July 15, 2025

Available On: Premium, Professional, Enterprise

The Create Part from Photo feature uses AI to help you build a part record by simply taking a picture. Instead of typing out every detail manually, you can snap a photo of the part’s packaging or label, and UpKeep will automatically extract useful information like:

  • Part name

  • Manufacturer

  • Model or part number

How to Create a Part from a Photo

  1. Open the UpKeep mobile app

  2. From the menu, tap Create Part

  3. Choose Take a Photo

  4. Snap a clear picture of the part’s label or packaging

🧠 Pro Tip: The AI works best when the image contains printed text, like part numbers, product names, or barcodes — not just the object itself.

  5. Review the auto-filled details (part name, number, etc.)

  6. Select to Edit Full Details and select Submit

    1. Set Quantity

    2. Minimum Quantity

    3. Cost

  7. Tap Create Part

Editing Part Details While Creating Your Part

After the photo is scanned, you can select Edit Full Details:

  • Edit any field before saving

  • Add more descriptive information

  • Change the part number or model if needed

Once saved, the part will appear in your inventory as usual.

How to Manually Create a Part

No problem! When you tap Create Part, you’ll also see a Create Manually option.
Select this if:

  • You don’t have the part or label nearby

  • The photo flow doesn’t fit your workflow

  • You want full manual control from the start

🧪 Tips for Better Scans

✅ Use well-lit, non-blurry images

✅ Focus on the product label, box, or webpage, not just the item

✅ If the AI misses something, edit it before saving

✅ Avoid handwritten text — AI works best on printed content
