Asset Custom Fields in UpKeep offer a flexible way to tailor the information you track for your assets, aligning it with your organization's specific needs. These custom fields are essential for filtering, exporting, and generating detailed reports on your assets, helping you manage and analyze asset data more efficiently. 🛠️📊📋


How to Create Asset Custom Fields

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Settings in the lower left-hand corner of your account

  2. Under the Modules section, select the "Asset" option and ensure you are on the "Fields" Tab.

  3. Under the Fields tab, click "Create Field" button on the right of your screen.

    1. Select the format type needed for your custom field

  4. Hit Save to create Custom Field

  5. The list of Fields should now show the custom field created.

  6. Head back to the Asset page on your main page and see the custom field show as a new field option for asset creation and filtering.


How to edit an asset custom field

  1. Click Settings in the bottom left corner of your account

  2. Click “Assets”

  3. Click the “Fields” tab at top of the page

  4. Select the existing field from the list

  5. Make edits and when done click save

⚠️Editing custom fields will apply the changes across all assets

Changes can now be seen on the filters, columns and assets themselves under the asset page.


How To Delete An Asset Custom Field

🚫⚠️Warning: Deleting is permanent! Be cautious when removing items as this action cannot be undone. 🚫⚠️

🚫⚠️Deleted Fields would remove that data point from all assets. 🚫⚠️

  1. Click Settings in the bottom left corner of your account

  2. Click "Assets”

  3. Click the “Fields” tab at top of the page

  4. Find the field you want to remove, move your cursor to the end and click the delete option.


FAQs about Custom Fields

Are all custom data fields created in UpKeep exportable?

No, only custom asset fields are exportable in UpKeep. Location, Parts + Inventory, and Vendors/Customer custom data will not be exportable in UpKeep.

Can you pull reports for custom asset data?

Yes, it requires a custom dashboard to be built, but is possible. See this article for more information on building custom reports.
