How to Create an Asset on the Web Application

To create an asset in UpKeep’s web app, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the Asset Tab

  • From the left-hand panel, select the Assets tab.

  • Click the Create Asset button in the upper-right corner of the screen.

2. Enter Asset Details

  • Add the Asset Name and Description.

  • Include additional details such as Model, Manufacturer, Serial Number, Category, and Area.

3. Add Barcodes (Optional)

  • If you have existing barcodes or QR codes, enter them in the Barcode field.

  • If you need a barcode, select Generate Random Barcode and print it for future use.

4. Upload Images & Files

  • Attach images of the asset for easy identification.

  • Upload instruction manuals, warranties, or other relevant documents.

5. Assign the Asset to a User or Team

  • Assign assets to specific workers or teams to ensure visibility and tracking.

  • Limited Technicians can only view the assets they are assigned to.

6. Track Additional Information

  • Add vendors, customers, and service dates, including the Placed in Service date.

  • Track Warranty Expiration for proactive maintenance.

  • Associate relevant parts with the asset.

7. Set Asset Hierarchy & Location

  • Organize assets into a hierarchy (Parent, Child, Grandchild, Great-Grandchild).

  • Assign the asset to a specific location for better tracking.

8. Advanced Features (Business Plus Plan)

  • Depreciation Tracking – Monitor asset value over time.

  • Downtime Tracking – Set operating hours to accurately measure downtime.

  • Check-in/Check-out – Track which assets are in use or available.

9. Finalize & Save

  • Once all details are entered, click Create Asset to save it.

  • Your new asset is now ready for use in UpKeep!


Creating an Asset in UpKeep’s Mobile Application

To create an asset in UpKeep’s mobile app, follow these steps:

1. Open the App

  • Launch the UpKeep mobile application and log in.

2. Navigate to Assets

  • Tap on the Assets tab in the bottom navigation menu.

3. Add a New Asset

  • Click the "+" button to create a new asset.

4. Enter Asset Details

  • Fill in key information, such as Asset Name, Location, Category, and Description.

  • You can also attach photos, serial numbers, and other details.

5. Save the Asset

  • Once all required fields are completed, tap Save to add the asset to your database.

Your new asset is now available for tracking, maintenance, and management within UpKeep.
