Getting an error that a username has already been taken? UpKeep only allows 1 email per account

Currently, UpKeep grants access to one account per email address. If you're facing difficulties adding a user, it's possible they are already associated with another UpKeep account. To move someone from one account to another, you would need to remove them from the old account and then add them to the new one." πŸ‘€πŸ“§πŸ”„

If you encounter an error message like the one below when adding a user to your team and can't locate them in your People & Teams section, it's highly probable that the user has created their own separate account." πŸš«πŸ‘€πŸ“‹

If you and your coworker have already set up two separate UpKeep accounts and want to link them together, the process involves deleting one of those accounts and then re-adding them to your account." πŸ”—πŸš«πŸ‘₯

In order to fix this and add a user that already exists:

  • Delete their own account first.

This can be done by logging in > Profile (circle button with the silhouette of a head found in the top right) > click on the 3 vertical dots > Delete Account.

πŸ’‘ If they can't remember their password, they can reset it here!

  • Be invited to your team. You can invite them to your team once their account is deleted. Here is a guide.

To summarize, if a user has already created an account and needs to be added, they should follow these steps:

  1. Delete Existing Account: Log in to the separate account they've created and delete it.

  2. Wait for Invitation: After deleting the account, wait for an email invitation to set up their new account.

By following these steps, the user can successfully transition to their new account. πŸ”’πŸ“§πŸ‘€πŸ“₯
