Every UpKeep account includes a monthly credit budget per user. Credits are metered and tracked per action across Nova and Studio. The amount included depends on your plan — and if your team needs more, you can purchase additional credit packs that never expire.
How Credits Work
A credit represents the computational work performed by Nova or Studio when processing your requests. Usage is metered and tracked per credit, giving you full visibility into what features are being used and by whom.
Key things to know:
Each user receives a monthly credit budget determined by your plan tier.
Credits are shared dynamically across both Nova and Studio.
Monthly allotments reset at the beginning of each billing cycle.
Simple commands consume fewer credits, while complex analytical tasks consume more.
Additional credit packs can be purchased if your team exceeds its monthly budget, and these packs never expire.
Included Credits by Plan (Per User / Month)

Premium | 500 |
Professional | 750 |
Enterprise | 1,000 |
Tracking Usage and Balance
Admins can monitor credit consumption and remaining balance for the whole team in Settings → Nova & Studio. This view shows:
Per-user credit usage
Current balance vs. monthly budget
Any purchased credit pack balances (these roll over and never expire)
If a user hits their monthly budget, you can purchase additional credit packs directly from the same settings page — no need to contact support.
Nova Standard — The Only Mode You Need
Nova runs exclusively on the Standard model. Following deep efficiency tuning, Standard delivers equivalent answer quality to the former Max model at a fraction of the cost.
Our continuous modeling improvements have reduced average consumption significantly, making Standard highly optimized for both quick queries and intensive workflows:
"Assign all WOs in Building 2 to Charles"
"What's the status of WO #4892?"
"Show me which techs are completing PMs late and why"
"Build a PM schedule for all HVAC units based on failure history"
How Many Credits Will I Use?
Credit consumption depends on the complexity of your prompts and the volume of data in your account. Because credits now go twice as far, your allotment will cover significantly more work. As a general guideline:
Light Users: ~25–50 credits/month — well within any plan's included allotment.
Regular Users: 50–125 credits/month — comfortably covered by all plans.
Heavy Users (Bulk updates, custom reporting): May require more — additional credit packs are readily available.
Most customers will comfortably complete all their work within their standard plan allotments. Credit packs are only needed for power users managing enterprise-scale datasets.
Need More Credits?
If a user reaches their credit limit, follow these steps to add more:
Navigate to Settings → Nova & Studio.
Review the usage and balance metrics for your team.
Purchase credit packs directly from the interface.
Purchased credits roll over month-to-month and never expire, ensuring you always keep what you pay for.
FAQ
Why am I using fewer credits than before?
We recently shipped major modeling improvements that make Nova twice as credit-efficient. A prompt that once used 20 credits now uses approximately 10, meaning your allotment effectively goes twice as far!
Do unused monthly credits roll over?
No. Included monthly credits reset at the start of each billing cycle. Only purchased credit packs roll over and never expire.
Are Nova and Studio credits shared or separate?
They are shared. All credit usage draws from the same monthly pool for your account.
Can I see which users are consuming the most credits?
Yes. Admins can view individual credit consumption in Settings → Nova & Studio.
What happens when a user runs out of credits?
They will temporarily be unable to use Nova or Studio features until the next monthly reset, or until an admin purchases additional credit packs.
Does the credit model apply to all plans?
Yes, all plans include a monthly per-user allotment. The specific amount is determined by your plan tier.
What happened to Nova Max?
Nova Max was removed because the Standard model was optimized to deliver equivalent results at a much lower credit cost, protecting your budget.
