The SDS Library in UpKeep EHS allows you to upload, manage, search, and distribute Safety Data Sheets (SDS) while staying compliant with OSHA Right-to-Know requirements.

This module includes:

  • AI-powered extraction of all 16 GHS sections

  • A searchable, filterable SDS library

  • Quick View safety summaries

  • A full GHS document viewer

  • OSHA-compliant secondary container label generation

  • Site Binder Builder for compliance packages

  • AI Assistant for chemical questions


Accessing the SDS Library

  1. From the left navigation panel, click SDS Library

  2. You’ll land on the main library view where all uploaded SDS documents are stored

  3. Click + Upload SDS to begin


Uploading an SDS

The SDS Library uses AI to automatically extract all 16 GHS sections from your uploaded PDF.

Step 1: Upload PDF

  • Click + Upload SDS

  • Upload a Safety Data Sheet PDF file

The system will scan and extract:

  • Product name

  • Manufacturer details

  • Hazard classifications

  • PPE requirements

  • First aid measures

  • Storage and handling guidance

  • All 16 GHS sections


How to Build an SDS Binder

  1. Navigate to SDS Library

  2. Click the Binder (book) icon in the top right corner

  3. The Build SDS Binder window will appear

  4. Select the desired location from the dropdown

  5. (Optional) Check Include original PDF documents if you want the raw manufacturer SDS files included

  6. Click Build Binder


Searching & Filtering the SDS Library

The main SDS Library view allows you to:

  • Search by product name, manufacturer, or keyword

  • Filter by:

    • Signal word

    • Review date

    • Location

  • Include archived SDS documents

  • Navigate locations using the location tree explorer

This makes it easy to find SDS documents across large multi-site operations.
